Cards Reflect Our Culture

Greeting cards offer a cultural snapshot of world events, slang, social norms and design styles that have influenced what we've said over the past 10 decades. Check out these examples, you'll see what we mean. Then go to Hallmark.com to see what we help you say today.

What trends will influence tomorrow's cards? Too early to tell, but one thing's certain — if it's on our minds, it will be in our cards.

You Know You're A Boomer If...

... these cards look familiar! Boomers' lives are well chronicled in Hallmark's first 100 years.

Tough Times, Good Wishes

Even in difficult times — especially in difficult times — cards have helped us stay connected.

Cards are Groovy, Man

Movie stars, fashions and fads — they're part of popular culture, which means they're also part of our cards.

Be Mine Over Time

Expressions of love debuted early in Hallmark’s history, growing bolder as the culture evolved.

I have had a love affair with Hallmark since the summer of 1965, when my sorority sisters and I spent our first summer after our freshman year of college working at Disneyland, in Anaheim, CA. At the end of our work shift every day we would stop at the Hallmark card shop on main street and buy cards to send home to parents and friends. I've been buying Hallmark cards ever since. I love the wonderful memories you've made for me and all the people I love. Thank you Hallmark for 45 wonderful years!

I am a woman who loves cards as many do..However, I never throw any away. We relocatd in 1995 after being in that home for 26 years. My daughters and I were in the attic and of course found boxes of my cards I had saved.. After a discussion with daughters and husband chinming in I let go of them..All of them saying this is crazy MOM... Really !!! I don't think so...So guess what?? When we got moved I started saving again. I am a widow now and there is nothing that warms my heart more or brings back beautiful memories then my cards from my husband of 46yrs, family, and friends....I just celebrated my 70th birthday and the joy my cards brought me AGAIN was amazing.....Thank you and God Bless You Hallmark for my wonderful memories.........

(ME AGAIN..with the whole comment and even spell checked!! heehee !)Hallmark has been a part of my life since I can remember. These cards have been purchased and given to those we love as if they were special awards and in some cases a competition within the family to see who could give the biggest and the "best" Hallmark card to the recipient. And now the Hallmark card competetions allow us to design a Hallmark card that, if chosen a winner becomes part of our family's history and story of an individuals talent and success. No matter where the computer age takes us, there will always be that special moment when you are handed a card chosen by one who loves you enough to choose a Hallmark! I have been a two time finalist in these competitions and I dare say the experiances have been some of the best highlights of my life..so far!

I've been a Hallmark fanatic for decades & was so delighted when I became a Charter Crown Reward member. I can spend at least an hour or more wherever I go into one of the Gold Crown stores checking out what's new. What's amazing are the contests available for us Hallmark enthusiasts and offer us a chance to release our creative juices. It was only by chance about 2 years as I was on hallmark.com that I was aware of the "Funnyness" contest. I submitted my design on a whim and was surprised to become a finalist. Hallmark has definitely became part of my life as I always find the touching words to share with my family and friends.
